Plain-language summary
SlideScope is designed to help people review microscopy and medical-imaging files. Most image review and quantification happens locally. Accounts, subscriptions, optional cloud notes, shared-link relays, support, consented analytics, and hosted AI use limited cloud services. SlideScope is a research, education, and review aid—not a validated diagnostic system or a substitute for qualified professional judgment.
You keep ownership of your files, notes, and other content. SlideScope and its licensors keep ownership of the app, source code, brand, website, documentation, designs, and other product materials. Your subscription gives you a limited right to use the product; it does not permit copying, redistribution, resale, or reuse of proprietary materials.
Terms of use
These Terms are an agreement between you and SlideScope (“SlideScope,” “we,” or “us”) for the website, desktop application, accounts, subscriptions, cloud features, support, and related services (the “Services”). By creating an account, expressly accepting these Terms at checkout, or using the Services after being shown them, you agree to these Terms. If you use SlideScope for an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.
Eligibility and account security
You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement. The Services are not directed to children under 13, and a child under 13 may not create a personal account. If you are under 16 or local law otherwise treats you as a minor, a parent, guardian, school, or other authorized adult must arrange, supervise, and approve use as local law requires. We do not intentionally ask for a birth date; contact us if you believe a child supplied personal data without appropriate authorization. Provide accurate account information, protect credentials, and promptly report suspected compromise. You are responsible for activity under your account except to the extent caused by SlideScope.
Acceptable use
Do not use the Services unlawfully; defeat access, licensing, or security controls; probe or overload systems; introduce malware; infringe another person’s rights; impersonate others; scrape the service at scale; or use the Services to develop, train, benchmark for publication, or operate a competing product using non-public SlideScope materials without written permission. Normal interoperability, security research authorized in writing, and rights that applicable law makes non-waivable are not prohibited.
Your content
You keep all rights in files, annotations, selections, prompts, and other content you provide. You grant SlideScope only the limited, non-exclusive permission needed to host, transmit, process, back up, and display that content to operate features you choose, provide support, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. We do not obtain a right to sell your microscopy images or use them to train general-purpose models merely because you use SlideScope.
Software and intellectual-property license
Subject to these Terms and an active entitlement, SlideScope grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the desktop application on the permitted number of devices for your own internal research, education, review, or business work.
Except where applicable law expressly prevents the restriction or a separate written agreement permits it, you may not copy or redistribute the app; publish or disclose source code; modify, translate, or create derivative works; reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it; bypass licensing, subscription, update, signature, or security mechanisms; remove proprietary notices; rent, lease, sublicense, sell, resell, timeshare, host, or provide it as a bureau or managed service; frame or mirror substantial website content; reuse SlideScope text, images, icons, designs, datasets, models, or documentation in another product; or use SlideScope branding in a way that suggests sponsorship.
The Services, source and object code, algorithms, workflows, interface designs, website content, documentation, logos, icons, screenshots, and other product materials are owned by SlideScope or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, trade-secret, contract, and other laws. “SlideScope™” and the SlideScope logo are used as source identifiers. No trademark license is granted. Third-party components remain governed by their own licenses, and these Terms do not reduce rights those licenses grant.
Feedback
If you voluntarily submit product ideas or feedback, you allow SlideScope to use them without restriction or payment, but this does not transfer ownership of your files, research, or confidential content. Do not submit an idea subject to duties SlideScope has not agreed to in writing.
Trials, subscriptions, cancellation, and refunds
Before payment approval, checkout shows the price, currency, billing interval, amount due today, trial eligibility, first expected charge date, and automatic-renewal terms. A trial is available only to eligible accounts and ordinarily requires PayPal or card approval. Unless cancelled before the displayed trial end, the subscription automatically renews monthly at the displayed price until cancelled.
You can cancel from the account page. Cancellation stops future renewals and access normally continues through the paid period or the stated trial end. Refund requests are reviewed under mandatory consumer law, the displayed offer, and the payment provider’s rules; these Terms do not remove non-waivable refund or withdrawal rights. Taxes and exchange-rate charges may depend on your location and payment provider. Promo access may have separate displayed duration or eligibility conditions.
Research use, medical limitations, and sensitive data
Not for diagnosis or autonomous clinical decisions. SlideScope has not been represented as a validated medical device or diagnostic system. Outputs—including measurements, annotations, metadata rendering, local quantification, and AI responses—can be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for a particular specimen or workflow. Qualified users must verify source data, calibration, segmentation, outputs, and conclusions using validated procedures.
Do not submit patient-identifying, regulated health, or other highly sensitive data to support forms, hosted AI, analytics, public/shared links, or other cloud features unless your organization has independently determined that the use is lawful and suitable and has the necessary agreements and safeguards. Remove burned-in identifiers from images before cloud transmission. SlideScope does not promise HIPAA compliance or execute a healthcare business-associate agreement unless explicitly agreed in writing.
Shared-view packages can expose the image pixels and notes you choose to include. Technical metadata and source paths are omitted by design, but SlideScope cannot detect every identifier embedded in pixels or user-entered text. Review the package before sharing and control recipients.
Privacy notice
SlideScope acts as the controller or business responsible for the personal data described here, except where a customer organization independently determines the purposes and means of processing. Questions and verified requests can be sent to support@slidescope.science.

Where processing occurs and who receives data
We use service providers only as needed for the selected feature: Supabase for accounts and database services; PayPal for payment approval and subscriptions; Cloudflare and Railway for website, download, and API delivery; Google Gemini for hosted AI requests; Mixpanel for consented product analytics; and email/support delivery providers. Some providers process data in other countries. We use available contractual and technical safeguards for transfers, while recognizing that local legal protections may differ.
Cookies and local storage
Essential browser storage supports sign-in, security, locale, checkout continuity, and your privacy choice. Optional analytics is off until you choose “Allow analytics.” Refusing analytics does not reduce service functionality. You can reopen “Privacy choices” in any page footer, and Global Privacy Control or an enabled Do Not Track signal is treated as a denial when no prior choice exists.
AI and automated decisions
SlideScope does not use AI output to make legal or similarly significant decisions about users. When you start AI Analysis, a compressed visible view or selected region and limited technical context are sent through the SlideScope API to Google Gemini. SlideScope does not add the image or response to your account history, but the provider processes the request under the applicable service configuration and terms. Do not send identifying patient data.
Retention and deletion
We keep data only as long as reasonably needed for the stated purpose, security, disputes, and legal duties. Current operational targets are:
- Account profile, entitlement, devices, and cloud notes: while the account is active; deleted or de-identified after a verified deletion request, subject to the exceptions below.
- Consented product analytics: up to 13 months in the analytics system. Unsent desktop analytics are automatically discarded after 7 days.
- Support and contact records: ordinarily up to 24 months after resolution unless a longer period is necessary for an active dispute or safety issue.
- Security, fraud-prevention, trial-eligibility, licensing, payment, tax, and transaction evidence: as needed to protect accounts, prevent repeated abuse, reconcile subscriptions, establish legal claims, and meet applicable accounting or legal retention duties—potentially up to 7 years where required.
- AI request bodies: not intentionally stored in SlideScope account data; short-lived infrastructure and provider processing may occur to deliver and secure the request.
- Local files, cached remote files, exports, models, preferences, and analytics queue: remain on the device until the user removes them, the application expires them, or the application is uninstalled. Uninstallers and operating systems may leave user-created files by design.
Deletion is not absolute where retention is necessary for payment reconciliation, fraud prevention, legal obligations, freedom of expression, public interest, security, or legal claims. Where practical, retained records are minimized, separated, or de-identified.
Your privacy rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, receive a portable copy, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising; and appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. SlideScope does not sell personal information and does not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Signed-in users can download a structured copy of account data and submit a deletion request from the account page. You can delete individual notes and revoke devices there as well. We may verify identity and may ask for details necessary to locate the record. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
Service changes, warranties, and responsibility
We may improve, add, remove, or discontinue features, while taking reasonable steps to avoid materially reducing paid functionality during a current billing period. Updates may be required for security or compatibility. The Services are provided “as is” and “as available” to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not promise uninterrupted operation, universal file compatibility, scientific validity, diagnostic accuracy, or that every defect will be corrected.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SlideScope is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of data, research opportunity, revenue, or goodwill. SlideScope’s aggregate liability connected with the Services will not exceed the greater of USD 100 or the fees you paid for the Services in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where prohibited, including liability that cannot lawfully be limited for fraud, intentional misconduct, death, personal injury, or mandatory consumer rights.
You are responsible for backups, verifying scientific outputs, maintaining validated clinical systems where required, obtaining rights and consents for content, and using appropriate security and access controls.
Accessibility
We aim to make the website and desktop experience usable with keyboard navigation, visible focus, semantic controls, sufficient contrast, reduced-motion preferences, readable zoom, and assistive technologies where the platform supports them. If a feature or document is inaccessible, email support@slidescope.science with the page or workflow and the format you need. We will make a reasonable effort to provide an accessible alternative.
Copyright, trademark, and infringement reports
Copyright © 2026 SlideScope. All rights reserved. SlideScope product code, binaries, website text and design, documentation, screenshots, original graphics, icons, and logos may not be copied, redistributed, modified, resold, relicensed, republished, or incorporated into another product without written permission, except for non-waivable legal rights and third-party materials under their own licenses.
To report suspected infringement involving SlideScope or content available through the Services, email support@slidescope.science with your contact information, the protected work or mark, the specific location and allegedly infringing material, the basis for your claim, and a statement that the information is accurate and submitted in good faith. We may request verification and will review complete reports promptly.
Changes and general terms
We may update these documents when the product, providers, or law changes. We will post a new effective date and give additional notice or request renewed acceptance when a change materially affects rights or requires consent. If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining parts continue. A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. Mandatory consumer and privacy law in your place of residence remains applicable. Unless a written agreement says otherwise, disputes may be brought in any court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
