How to Open an MRXS File on Mac and Windows (3DHISTECH)

What this video covers

3DHISTECH lists SlideViewer for Windows only, so a .mrxs slide received on a Mac needs another viewer. This video opens an MRXS whole slide image in SlideScope on a Mac or Windows PC, read from your own disk, with nothing uploaded and no conversion.

The most common problem is covered too: an .mrxs file is only an index. The pixels live in the folder of the same name next to it (Slidedat.ini, Index.dat and the Data*.dat files), so the file and the folder must be copied together. Without the folder the slide cannot open, and SlideScope says the data folder is missing.

Limits: MRXS opens from local storage only, not from shared links, and is read through OpenSlide as one RGB image, which suits brightfield scans. For research, teaching and review, not diagnosis.
