Open an ND2 file in SlideScope
- Download the Apple Silicon or Intel build for your Mac, install it on macOS 14 or later, and sign in.
- Open SlideScope and drag your .nd2 file into the viewer.
- Select the scene or position if present, then inspect available channels, Z-slices and time points.
- Check the pixel size in the metadata before measuring. Keep the original file when exporting.

When SlideScope is the better fit
SlideScope is useful when ND2 is one part of a mixed lab workflow. Many labs receive CZI from Zeiss systems, ND2 from Nikon systems, SVS from pathology scanners, DICOM from imaging equipment, and TIFF exports from downstream tools. A single review layer reduces the friction of asking every collaborator to install a different viewer.

Can I open ND2 files on a Mac?
Open Nikon ND2 files in SlideScope on macOS without converting them first. Review the channels and image dimensions stored in your file. Local viewing does not upload the image.
What if the file does not open?
Confirm the file finished copying. If it still fails, contact support with the app version, file format and error message so we can help investigate.
Does SlideScope replace Nikon acquisition software?
No. SlideScope reviews images that have already been acquired. Keep the manufacturer’s software for microscope control and acquisition workflows.
