Ask AI What You're Looking At, Without Leaving Your Viewer
Zoom to the field that matters, or draw a region, and click Analyze. SlideScope's AI Analysis returns a written readout of that view: what kind of image it is, the structures it can see, the likely stain or imaging method, image quality, notable findings and what to check next. Your slide file stays on your computer.

When a second opinion in words helps
An unfamiliar stain or tissue
A collaborator sends an IHC slide or a tissue you don't see every day. A first description of the structures and staining pattern helps you orient before you measure anything.
Teaching and self-study
Students exploring a scanned slide can ask what they are looking at, in their own language, and check it against the course material.
Quality before quantification
The readout flags focus, staining and artefact problems in the view, so you catch a weak field before you count cells or make a figure from it.
How AI Analysis works
Open the image in SlideScope: SVS, CZI, ND2, NDPI, TIFF/OME-TIFF, LIF, VSI and the other supported formats.
Frame the question. Zoom and pan to the field you care about, or select a region.
Click Analyze in the AI Analysis panel (View > AI Analysis Panel, or Ctrl+I). Choose the answer language if it isn't English.
Read, copy or share the readout. It comes back in sections: expert impression, visible findings, image quality and suggested next checks.
Only a compressed snapshot of that view or region is sent (at most 896 pixels on the long side), and only when you click Analyze. The slide file is never uploaded for analysis. Details are on the data handling page.
A real readout from SlideScope 1.16.0 on the free CMU-1 sample slide (H&E skin, about 670 × 655 µm in view). It begins: “This is a brightfield H&E section of skin, high confidence, at roughly 20x equivalent”, notes nests of round, monotonous cells in the superficial dermis, says “interpretation needs a qualified reviewer”, and suggests zooming to full resolution on the largest nest to assess nuclear atypia and mitoses.

AI Analysis does not replace quantitative analysis. Use it to understand a view; use Quantify or QuPath when you need numbers you can defend.
What it doesn't do
It does not diagnose, grade or classify tissue, and it is not a validated measurement.
It sees one snapshot at a time, not the whole slide at full resolution. Zoom in on what you want described.
It can be wrong, especially on low-magnification views, unusual preparations or images without tissue. Treat a readout as a starting point to check.
It is not available for medical scans (CT, MR, ultrasound and similar).
Who gets AI Analysis
AI Analysis is included with every SlideScope plan and with the 3-day trial, within fair-use limits; Plus plans have higher limits. There is no separate AI account, key or per-analysis charge. The free sample library includes every local tool; AI Analysis starts with the trial. Current prices are on the plans page.
Questions about AI Analysis
What does SlideScope's AI Analysis do?
It sends a compressed snapshot of the view on screen, or of a region you selected, to a hosted AI model and returns a written readout: the image type, visible structures, the likely staining or imaging method, image quality, notable findings and suggested next checks. Answers are available in 14 languages.
Does AI Analysis upload my slide?
No. Only the snapshot of the current view or region is sent (at most 896 pixels on the long side), and only when you ask for an analysis. The slide file stays on your computer.
Can AI Analysis diagnose a slide?
No. AI Analysis is for research, teaching and review, and every readout is labelled as not a medical diagnosis. It is switched off for medical scans such as CT and MRI.
Do I need my own AI account or API key?
No. AI Analysis is included with SlideScope access, including the 3-day trial, within fair-use limits. There is no separate AI key or per-analysis charge.
How is this different from counting cells?
AI Analysis describes what is in the view in words. Quantify counts nuclei and cells with a segmentation model that runs on your own computer and nothing is uploaded; it returns numbers and outlines you can check visually.
Quick answers
Best fit: researchers, students and review teams who want a quick written orientation to a microscopy or slide view inside the viewer they already use.
Key strengths: works on the exact field or region you frame, in 14 languages, with no AI account or key, and without uploading the slide file.
Important limitation: descriptive only; not a diagnosis, a classifier or a validated measurement.
