Is SlideScope image analysis software?

Partly. SlideScope handles the viewing and measurement side of image analysis: calibrated distances and areas, metadata inspection, annotation, and export. It does not run segmentation pipelines, batch quantification, or scripted analysis. For those, ImageJ or Fiji, CellProfiler, and QuPath remain the right tools, and SlideScope works alongside them.

What microscopy software do I need to just look at a file?

If the task is opening a CZI, ND2, SVS, DICOM, or TIFF file, checking metadata, taking a few measurements, and exporting a region, a desktop viewer is enough. Installing a full analysis platform for that is usually more setup than the job requires.

Are the measurements calibrated in real units?

Yes. SlideScope reads the physical pixel size recorded by the microscope or slide scanner and reports distances and areas in micrometres rather than pixels, so numbers stay comparable across acquisitions.

Can SlideScope files move into ImageJ or QuPath afterwards?
